Tanjiro Kamado vs Inosuke Hashibira was a battle that took place outside the Drum House. It focuses on the fight between Demon Slayer Tanjiro Kamado against Demon Slayer Inosuke Hashibira.

Prologue

After having defeated the ex-Twelve Kizuki member, Kyogai, Tanjiro arrives outside with Kiyoshi on his back. To his horror, he discovers his new acquaintance, Zenitsu, bleeding on the floor as he holds onto the box containing Nezuko.[1]

Zenitsu protects Nezuko from the assailant.

The mysterious boar headed assailant, proceeds to pummel down on Zenitsu, yelling at him to get up and fight him, as he threatens to stab him along with the box. Witnessing the assault, Tanjiro becomes furious as he has a flashback from when he saw his family dead on the ground, and rushes in to attack the assailant, instigating a fight.[1]

Battle

Tanjiro rushes in to prevent the assailant from stabbing Zenitsu by punching him the stomach, knocking him backwards. The impact of the punch is so powerful, that Zenitsu looks shocked after hearing the sounds of the assailant's bones breaking.[2] Tanjiro berates the boy for drawing his sword on Zenitsu and trying to fight him, despite being a fellow Corps member, as the boy struggles to stand up. However this does not deter the boy, and he instead does a kip up to get back up on his feet, and challenges Tanjiro to a fist fight.[3] Tanjiro tries to deescalate the fight by explaining that its wrong for Corps members to fight one another, but the assailant attempts to kick Tanjiro in the face. Tanjiro realizes that the assailant is set on fighting him, and is forced to go on the defense while simultaneously trying to knock him out to cease the fighting. As they engage in a fight, Tanjiro realizes that he's remaining unusually close to the ground when he attacks, and compares him to a four legged boar.[4]

The assailant shows off his flexibility.

He attempts to kick his legs in order to knock him off balance, but the assailant gets below Tanjiro's leg and knocks him to the ground. The assailant displays his extreme flexibility, causing Tanjiro to scold him for straining his injuries. The assailant refuses to listen to Tanjiro and moves in to attack him yet again. However Tanjiro headbutts him out of anger, and tells him to calm down, causing the assailant's mask to fall off.

The assailant's face is revealed.

Tanjiro and Zenitsu look at the boy in shock as they see his feminine face, and he proceeds to grow irritated as they stare at him. The boy yells at Tanjiro to headbutt him again so they can continue the fight, but Tanjiro refuses and tells him to sit down. The boy tells Tanjiro that his name is Inosuke Hashibira, but when asked how his name is written, he reveals that he doesn't know how to read or write.[5]Inosuke unexpectedly stops speaking and everyone watches him to see what he'll do next. However, his eyes proceed to roll back and he falls unconscious on the ground.

The group is left stunned as Tanjiro explains that Inosuke probably has a concussion from the headbutt he gave him, reassuring that he's not dead. Zenitsu looks at Tanjiro in horror as he stands unfazed from the powerful headbutt, ending the confrontation.[6]

Aftermath

Inosuke angrily awakens from being knocked out and attempts to attack Zenitsu once again, however he discovers everyone burying the bodies from the Drum House. Tanjiro sees Inosuke and asks him to help them lay the bodies to rest, but he refuses and tells Tanjiro to fight him instead. He misunderstands Inosuke and tells him to rest since his wounds must be painful, and reassures him that they can continue while Inosuke takes a break.

Feeling like he's being mocked, Inosuke becomes determined to show Tanjiro that he can do whatever they can do and yells out that he can bury hundreds of people, before proceeding to quickly bury the bodies.[7] Following the burial, Inosuke accompanies the Tanjiro and Zenitsu as they follow the crows onto the next location.
